3 DIY Bait Mixes That Work Wonders in South African Waters

South African carp are opportunistic feeders — but they’ve also seen every mass-produced mix under the sun. Sometimes, going back to basics wins the day.

Here are three tried-and-tested DIY bait mixes that always produce for me:

🍯 Honey & Maize Method Mix

  • 2 cups crushed maize meal
  • 1 cup brown bread crumbs
  • A drizzle of honey
  • Just enough water to bind it

Sweet, simple, and irresistible.

🌶️ Spicy Tiger Blend

  • 2 cups ground tiger nuts
  • 1 cup wheat semolina
  • A teaspoon of paprika or chili powder
  • A splash of warm water to bind all the ingredients

Perfect for warmer months and murky water.

🥜 Nut Bomb

  • 1 cup peanut flour
  • 1 cup crushed oats
  • A table spoon of molasses

All three mixes load beautifully into the Honey Pot, breaking down slowly and keeping carp glued to your feed area.

Homemade. Affordable. Deadly effective. 🪣🐝
